Intro to Gouache

Join Spencer Pearson for “Intro to Gouache”, a 2-series class in gouache painting on Wednesdays, April 9th & 16th from 6-8:30pm. What is gouache you ask? “Gouache is a water-medium paint that is opaque and can be transparent or opaque depending on how much water is used.” It has been around since the 16th century and was used by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and many others over the centuries. It rose to fame again in the 1900’s when commercial artists and illustrators rediscovered its great qualities. Many of today’s oil painters do studies with gouache paints before they paint a large-scale painting in oil. Come paint with Spencer as he shows you one of his favorite mediums, GOUACHE! All experience levels are welcome, whether you are trying gouache for the first time, or you are an experienced painter. It is a class for everyone, ages 18 and up. Just show up and paint! All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Bring your tablet, IPAD, your favorite photos to paint, or if you don’t have any of these, Spencer will have options for you in class.
